The Crete-Monee School District 201-U recently unveiled its newly constructed south wing addition to house the Bridges program.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Tuesday, January 9, with CM 201-U administration, staff, local dignitaries, and community mentors participating in the event.

Previously located at the Monee Education Center at 5154 Main Street in Monee, the Bridges program is designed to cater to individual student needs through innovative learning approaches and comprehensive vocational programs.

“We are thrilled to present this new, dedicated space for our Bridges program,” said Dr. Kara Coglianese, Superintendent. “Its cutting-edge infrastructure, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and advanced resources, reflects our commitment to providing students with an optimal environment for success in their educational journey and beyond.”

The new Bridges facility offers an array of specialized programs, including the classroom community model, Individualized Academic Programming (IAP), social-emotional support, vocational training, transition back to home school, credit recovery, and Crisis Intervention Behavior Stabilization (CIBS). The new wing also houses Crete-Monee High School’s manufacturing and vocational programs.

This move to a more sophisticated infrastructure aligns with the Bridges program’s commitment to delivering high-quality education within a smaller, supportive setting, ensuring students are prepared for their chosen postsecondary endeavors.

As part of the ceremony, a dedication plaque was unveiled in honor of the inaugural class of 31 students.

The grand opening event invited local dignitaries, CM 201-U Board of Education, staff, students, parents, and community mentors to celebrate this significant milestone in providing tailored education and support to students within the CM 201-U community.
