The Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) hosted a Cinco de Mayo family celebration that brought together ELL families from across the district for an evening of culture, community, and student talent. ELL staff from various schools helped make the event a success by decorating the space, serving families, and supporting student performers.
The celebration featured several student performances, including a charming display of traditional Mexican songs and dances by Mrs. Paloma Rodriguez’s preschool class. Mr. Elam read a heartfelt poem, while Ms. Lesley Vasquez, Mrs. Jennifer Kozinski, and their Talala students energized the crowd with a lively salsa dance. Ms. Theresa Anderson displayed her students' works of art for all to enjoy.
In addition to the entertainment, families enjoyed dinner from a taco truck, with meals provided by the district. BPAC President Maria Vitela encouraged parents to get involved by joining the committee and continuing to support bilingual programming in the schools.
